Planting Hope: Our First Campus Micro-Forest
In March 2025, 32 students and 4 teachers at Green Valley Senior Secondary School planted 120 native saplings in an underused corner of campus to create a micro-forest. Six months later, 80% of the trees survived, and 87% of participants reported feeling more hopeful about their ability to contribute to climate solutions.
The project included baseline mapping, species selection with a local botanist, planting days, and a student-run monitoring team that tracked survival rates monthly. The school now uses the micro-forest as an outdoor classroom for biology and environmental science.
